Yehuda Armoni is a late bloomer of the most pleasing kind. He started his artistic adventure in 2001, at the age of 49, after a very successful career as an electronical engineer. At the peak of his career, a highly successful CEO of a prominent hi-tech company in Israel, Yehuda decided to take a breather.

A hike in the landscape, making one’s way, seeing and observing, a process of thought and soul – all of these elements are at the very foundations of Yehuda Armoni’s paintings. He is free to select a place and remain as its guest, to partake of its beauty, and honor it by quiet, deep observation.

An intense calm suffuses Yehuda Armoni’s paintings. The works are immersed in beauty, balance, and nature, yet are imbued with doubt of what will remain and what is ephemeral. Their essential charm lies in the way Armoni transforms scenes into free-standing spaces, creating entities.

My acquaintance with Yehuda Armoni has deepened over recent years. This is thanks to group exhibitions I curated, gallery discussions, and particularly meetings held in preparation for the current exhibition and catalogue. Yehuda Armoni is a passionate and dedicated artist, a man of commitment and modesty. A man of the field who is well aware of his environment, an authentic and sincere painter.

Yehuda Armoni is a landscape painter. Some people might think that this is a rather unproblematic affair. Being a landscape painter is akin to being a still-life painter, (indeed, many realist painters do both landscapes and still-lifes, as well as portraits).
