Yehuda is a landscape, plein-air, painter. He specializes in premier coup painting done using direct observation. He tends to complete a painting in one sitting. He must paint quickly, because the sun and the clouds move all the time and the painting motif may change every moment.
Yehuda Armoni was born in Jerusalem on December 12, 1953. He is a scion of the Castel family, which arrived in the Land of Israel after the expulsion of the Jews from Spain more than five hundred years ago.
Yehuda Armoni is a late bloomer of the most pleasing kind. He started his artistic adventure in 2001, at the age of 49, after a very successful career as an electronical engineer. At the peak of his career, a highly successful CEO of a prominent hi-tech company in Israel, Yehuda decided to take a breather.
A hike in the landscape, making one’s way, seeing and observing, a process of thought and soul – all of these elements are at the very foundations of Yehuda Armoni’s paintings. He is free to select a place and remain as its guest, to partake of its beauty, and honor it by quiet, deep observation.
